【《大一統理論之夢》聲音、身體與科學】

藝術與科學的不同之處正是它們可以共存發展之處,藝術和科學是由一種邏輯和一種感性的途徑,兩者都在試圖理解人類和周圍世界的本質。在物理學之中,大一統理論是一種只需要用單一場論就可以完美解釋所有基本粒子之間的交互作用。在相同的背景條件下,即為所有現象及關係都可以以單一的理論來解釋。

 

Kaiyu x Zihning 在【大一統理論之夢】展覽中,透過科學研究者/藝術創作者的雙重視角,藝術家成為兩者學門間的一個中介介面。科學理論只是一個方程式的說明。在物質性的條件下才得以被精準的釋放及表述,透過科學光學元件的物質化,成了實驗科學;而透過將身體/光/聲音的物質化,編排物質的編舞,成了作品。這些物質性的條件,如何中介了原理原則,轉化了我們的認識跟體驗。作品嘗試以科學實驗設備、技術,轉化為人體可直接感知的美感,從粒子到宇宙,放大或縮小至人類可感知的尺度,人類是萬物的尺度。

In Kaiyu x Zihning's exhibition and performance "Dreams of a Grand Unified Theory", the artist becomes an intermediary between the two disciplines through the dual perspective of the scientific researcher/artist. Scientific theory is only an illustration of an equation. It is only under the material conditions that it can be precisely interpreted and expressed. Through the materialization of scientific optical elements, it becomes experimental science; and through the materialization of body/light/sound, it choreographs material choreography and becomes a work. How these material conditions mediate the principles and transform our understanding and experience. The work attempts to transform scientific experimental equipment and technology into a sense of beauty that can be directly perceived by the human body, from particles to the universe, scaled up or down to a human perceptible scale, where humans are the scale of everything.

Art and science are different in the sense that they can coexist and evolve together. Art and science are made up of a logical and a perceptual approach, both trying to understand the nature of human beings and the world around them. In physics, the grand unified theory is one that can perfectly explain the interaction between all elementary particles using only a single field theory. In the same context, this means that all phenomena and relationships can be explained by a single theory.

Kaiyu Lin is an artist and researcher working with the intersection between contemporary dance and physics with both educational certifications. As a contemporary dance and physics mediator who has been working in the theater for a long time, and as a physics researcher at the same time, Kai-Yu Lin's work continues to be an intermediary interface between the two disciplines from the dual perspective of a scientific researcher/artist. The work attempts to transform scientific experimental equipment and technology into a sense of beauty that can be directly perceived by the human body, from particles to the universe, enlarging or shrinking to a scale that can be perceived by humans, who are the scale of everything. The creative approach is based on scientific experimentation - the body as a medium - the translation between the mediums, the deepening of the exploration of physical phenomena in response to the viewpoint of body dynamics, and the expansion of perceptual performativity through scientific experimentation techniques, allowing the audience to move back and forth between different scales. As a preliminary practice in the area of basic science and art and the resulting creative vocabulary, questioning and thinking, and mediation.

n the series of creations that link scientific concepts and aesthetic intuition with the corresponding body dynamics, the artist's problematic consciousness is presented through contemporary performances. She is fascinated by the paradigm methodology of decomposing/transforming between dance and science, opposing the dichotomy between science and art, and developing her creative method.
